Belt Change?

About how many miles did you get on the belt before you had to change it? Was it all normal riding, or more working, harder use? Just trying to get an estimated belt life. Granted, there will be some difference between the AC and the Polaris due to tranny design, but I've seen a few of you Polaris guys with over 3,000 miles on a belt. That's pretty damn good if you ask me! Still can't figure out why there's so much bad press for belt driven quads.

Take off the footrest to make room to work. Remove the belt cover, there are both screws and clips holding it. With the gear selector in N, work the rear pulley open. You will have to fight the spring & twist the pulleys against the helix, but you should be able to do this. Keep working the belt to the inside of the pulley as you open the pulley. Eventually, you should be able to work the old belt off over the FRONT pulley, then off the back. Put the new belt on the opposite way. Work it deep enough in the rear pulley, and it should slip over the front. I have heard you can remove the bolt in the center of the rear pulley & split it apart, but I like to keep it all together unless the helix buttons are worn out. Make sure you look at them while you are at it.
