I know what you are saying about the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks is true. The difference between the 650 V Twin and the HO is going to be weight. If the weight of the 650 is where they say it will be, we are looking at almost 100lbs difference. 100lbs less plus more horse power and torque. Those three factors make up a world of difference in those two machines. Again thats if the 650 is everything they say it is. 100lbs is a lot of weight difference for an ATV. So as I see it if there is any kiking butt to be done it probably won't be the HO doing the kiking. Am I making any since here?

ok this is my theroy, Polaris reads these forums and knew that everybody was talking about the 700 and several said it was even coming out at the show, that is what i was told by others and would make sence. but polars said "we will show thoes guys" and they wont release it at the dealers show. they will prabally release it when we arnt expecting it and before the kawie650 hits the showrooms.
i will e-mail polaris to see what there answer is.

The Kawasaki will have great power, brakes, and traction, but IRS still is the benchmark.
I say the 650 beats it if they had a shootout, but a 700 could possibly be released before that would ever happen and we wouldn't see it. If it did take place, I say the Kawa wins the shootout over the HO, but by a slim margin. The ride quality and IRS benefits of the sportsman keep it very close despite the massive 650 engine.
In the past, IRS has been the thing that won the shootouts for the Sp500. At first, it was just totally overpowering. Then the Griz came along and IRS was what beat it. Same for the 450ES. Same for the Prairie 400. And same again for the Magnum and Rubicon. IRS took care of a Hydromatic transmission that really gained shootout points for honda. I think it will be the thing that keeps the Polaris in the game against the 650 too. Kawasaki should have put a swingaxle on that quad.

For mudriding purposes-will the Kawa 650 be able to run a 28" tire (or 29" tire next year)? Only one person on the forums is running a 28" tire on the forum on a Polaris. The tires are getting taller and few bikes can turn them, Many chose a bike based on what mods it can accept and for mud, a 28" tire is the ultimate tire choice for now.
