How hard to change a chain?
I think I have to change the chain on one of my 250's, it makes some nasty noises and I can't get it any tighter. How hard is this to do? Do I need to replace the sprockets, too? I'm gonna take a ride to the dealer today for what I need, just thought I'd get an idea here first.

i replaced my chain about two months ago...u should buy new front and rear sprockets to. The easiest part is taking off the chain, just take the pin off of the master link and then the master link will pull apart and the chain will come off. To remove the rear sprocket(after the chain is off of course) if its the same on the trailblazer which im sure it is. You wil need to take off the rear right tire, then remove the hub. After u get the hub off its pretty self explanitory on how the rest of it is removed, there should be a metal gear guard as i called it and this plastic spacer?? there all held on by screws and bolts as well as the sprocket, it just screws right off and just takes a few minutes to remove it. The front sprocket cause me a bit of trouble because we didnt have the tool too remove it, its a pop rivit..i think that was what it was called, u might wanna ask some1 else on the front sproket but u need a special tool that will pull it right off so dont bother trying to get it with out the tool because we spent 3 hours on the front one and then the next day we used the tool we bought for it and it came off in 5 minutes, but u should ask some1 else on the front to double check

I just got back from the dealer, they didnt have chains in stock, so I ordered two, one for each xplorer. He said to replace the sprockets if they look worn, but they seem ok. Plus I just dropped 160 dollars on the chains, I'm not too eager to get some expensive gears to go with them. Plus, we don't ride the 250's that hard, no jumps or anything. Just rides down the road and some trips through the mud.

Are the stock chains o-ring chains?
My sprockets look ok, I did the pull-on-the-chain test and it barely comes off the sprocket, so I think I'll be good for awhile.
Did all my maintenance today on all three quads, took me the whole day. Changed plugs, gas filters, hub oil, and everything else. I didn't do the engine oil on the sportsman, though. Ran out of daylight. Save that for another day.
