Default overheating...sportsman 600

i searched to try and find a remedy but could not find one.... I know its not the water pump because when i go fast the overheat light goes off. It only overheats when slowly moving. Both hoses and the radiator are hot, so the water is circulating. The fan will not turn on. I plugged in the fan direct and it works. Also, i bypassed the circuit breaker that is inline with the radiator while it was hot but it still would not work. What could possibly be the problem? Thanks in advance for your replies!!

Thanks for the help MM3, I'll go order one tonight. One question...how did the machine know it was overheating if the sensor is bad?

The temperature sensor that turns on the hot light serves only one purpose. It comes on when the temperature reaches 230F. The sensor that has gone out is on the radiator and tells the fan when to come on and go off. THey are separate sensors. Mine ran hot on me but the radiator was packed with mud. I wonder how that happened?
