Default new tires?????

sounds right. If you don't want to do a complete lift and just want to lift the front end up enuff to level the front out and avoid rubbing you can get some 2 1/2" pipe (aluminum or steel) and make whatever size spacers to put under the strut springs to lift the front end up. take a look at my gallery to get an idea of what I am talking about. I made mine out of aluminum billet round stock and cut them to 2" tall then cut them on a machining lathe then sprayed them with a ceramic low gloss black finish after beadblasting the spacers smooth. more work than just cutting some exhaust pipe or hockey pucks but they were made and look very professional. you should call Melanie at lesteratv.com and see what she tells you, she is very helpful and even if you find a lower price somewhere else go ahead and call her and she can usually beat it. just to give you an idea, I got my 27's with the type 6's with center caps and lugnuts for $545 shipped. don't forget to tell her david krueger referred you.

Reburn you can run 27 without a lift but like silver has said youll need to add spacers under the front springs,And as long as you go with the 9in front tires youll be ok.I run 27-10 on the front and 27-12 mudlites on the back and had to make a set of 1in wheel spacers for the front to keep them from rubbing the tierods and I moved my floorboads back 3/4 of an inch and they never rub.I put up a few pictures of the spacer if you want to look there in my gallery. One more thing I did was to take a hot air gun and heat up the outsides of my fenders and flatend them out that really helps with the mud....

reburn, another thing you need to consider if you go with the 27" tires, your 500 is going to eat belts unless you clutch it for bigger tires.

You need a clutch kit that will squeeze the belt harder at engagement. Heelclicker, Erlandson and Dalton are a few that make "Big Foot" kits for machines with over size tires. With the larger diameter tires, you have effectively changed your gear ratio. With the stock clutch setup your belt will slip alot more at engagement and to some degree throughout the shifting of the clutch.
