I have a 99 scrambler 500 and was wondering if anyone has had experience with different clutch kits?

I put a AAEN on my 2000 scambler 500 4x4. Not impressed with it at all . Buddy has EPI and it works very nice good top end punch.

In my opinion if all you want is a clutch kit with no future mods, go for the EPI. If you plan on other mods in the future, get in touch with Darell over at HPD.

EPI and pipes, other springs, rollers dont mix!

Before you install a clutch kit on your atv, tell
everyone what type of riding & terrain you will be
doing.Clutch kits do not help everyones type of
riding.Alot of people say they are great because
they spent the money for them. Most clutch kits
cause the engine to rev higher before engauging.
My freind has one on his atv,if you have ever been
stopped on a real steep hill & go to take off again the frt wheels coming up may not be what you
want.Make sure it meets your riding needs. Some
people love them,I would not have one for my type
of riding.

GOOD LUCK

EPI kits are great! Just tell them what you are doing. if you add power, you can simply add weight to help the clutching. just keep the same/similar profile.

Before spending all your hard earned money on complete clutch kits, try changing the primary spring. It made a WORLD of differance on my 00 Xplorer, and it only costs a fraction of what a complete kit costs.===Bill

Bill said it right again you will be hard pressed to beat the belt engagement gain of changing just the Primary spring...I very good example of alot of bang for your buck

Thx

I also own an xplorer 250 and am researching a clutch kit or as mentioned spring upgrades. I feel that the better I understand the mechanics behind the transmission the happier I will be with my choice. Unfortunately this info does not appear to be easily found. Where can I find it?

Cappy,
Your clutching can be helped by contacting Rick Ritter at 1618-644-3211.He has the right springs for the Polaris quads.

It;s a funny thing, after installing the new clutch spring and testing it,all I could think about for awhile was how much better the belt hooked-up.I had to go back outside and wheelie in the driveway and backyard somemore just to be sure it all was for real.It is,good luck,

Bill
