I am looking into uping the performance of my 96 sport 400 and have been looking at all the different combos and don't know which to buy. I like the price on ritters stage 1 kit. What do you have and what are the pros and cons?
Thanks

Ritters kit is the best bang for the buck with good performance increase. HPD is a great company, little better performance than HSP and RCR but a little more expensive and fit /finish not as good as AAEN. HSP decent company , good performance increase, not as good as HPD or AAEN, way loud. AAEN Performance, great company, performance is as good as HPD but fit and finish is better than HPD.
I use to run HPD parts on my 250 but then went with AAEN performance. As for performance I think they are just as good as HPD but the finish and fit is better with AAEN.
Ritter stg1 comes with pipe, silencer, primary clutch spring and airbox mod. He also carries HPD. The rest of the other companies have a full clutch kit that will match the pipes. I like the idea of the full clutch kit to get the most out of the quad but you cant beat the price of the stage 1 kit. Rick is a great guy to deal with and you wont get that kind of svc with the others.
Dont go with HSP, Ritter if you are on a budget, HPD and AAEN equal except AAEN having better fit and finish.

Go with Rick Ritter hands down. He not only sells his own products, but also supplies all of HPD's products as well. If he thinks something else would be better for you he will tell you. He is a no BS very honest guy who is always willing to help. Remember to call him, dont e-mail as you probably wont get an answer that way.

i think ritter will be your best bet all the way around. i think that he also deals aeen parts too? im not sure tho. but call him first and he will shoot you a staight answer. he wont just try and push his parts either. he will recommend what is best for you, the rider.
ritter is setting the standard for the others as far as service. you can count on him to be your "go to" guy no matter what...

I'll toss a vote in for what Scramblered, Bubba, and the others stated. Ritter for great entry/advanced mods. HPD straight out for max mods. Hot Seat has some nifty suspension mods. If you sort through it all, they all kinda complement each other.....well, kinda.

Rick hands down. He helped me a ton with all my problems with my quad from a PO. Once I got it all figured out. I wanted to do a modified stage from him. A full clutch kit, a pip made for my stock muffler. I didn't want anything loud. I then told him the 400 has never been opened/rebuilt. He then said he wouldn't sell me the combo. He isn't only out for the money. He seems to want happy customers. And for that I always call him. I will be getting a rebuild kit for the 400 and the modified power kit from him as well in the future. The new 800 kinda set it on the back burner for a little while. He just didn't want me to spend the money and ride it for a short period of time and have my piston come appart like they usually did. He said the motor is too weak at this point for the combo.
