Default Replacing CV Joint

About a month ago, I noticed the front left CV boot on my 03' polaris magnum had a bad tear in it. Of course, I put off replacing it, and I think the actual cv joint is toast now. I'll be riding down the trail, and all of a sudden the thing will steer hard to the right; every time I've almost crashed. It usually doesnt happen toward the end of the ride, maybe once something heats up?? My question is, would a bad cv joint cause the steering to suddenly steer to the right, or could it be another part, maybe a steering box or something. Another words- What happens if you ride with a bad cv joint; would it cause the steering to suddenly turn? I have the repair manual, and will probably try fixing this myself; I just dont want to rip the cv apart and find out that its not causing the crazy steering problem. I appreciate any and all help!!! Thanks.

Default Replacing CV Joint

Welcome to the forums!

Bad CV joint makes a clicking/popping noise. I think your problem is more likely an engaging hub. Try changing your hub fluid.
You shouldnt have put off changing that boot, CV's are $$$ when they go bad.

Default Replacing CV Joint

Well first off you are goin to have to replace your CV joiint anyways because it is only goin to get worst...trust me i know...i have two already and they are not the cheapest things in the world...but on the other hand i doubt the cv has anything to do with your sudden right turns...mabey your hub or somehting else...
