Default 660 Raptor VS 97 400 polaris Sport

raced a stock 660 raptor today with my 97 400 sport W/mods, beat him 6 out of 6 races in 500 feet, was he ever surprised !!!! I'm just blown away how these singles respond to simple mods. now if I could get this thing to ride as nice as a raptor. looking for input on front spring and shock combo's. is it possible to get a cushy ride W/struts??

I would like to know the same thing. I bought mine from a friend. He dropped it off a cliff, and bent the A-arm, and the strut itself. So it wouldn't rebound very well. I then bought a R front strut/spring/hub everything off of a 99 sport from Ebay for cheep. I went to replace the strut and found out it was a lot longer. So I then ordered another strut and sprong for a 99 and upgraded the whole front to 99 long travel. It made a huge difference. Or at least it did in my situation, because the one strut wouldn't pull all the way out on take offs. That made me spin more and it just didn't ride correctly. Now the whole front end lifts great. But it still doesn't have the feel of a new quad. They ride soo much better.

forgot to say congrats on the kill!!!!!!!!!!!!!. What exactly did you do to your 400? I am doing a new cylinder before I even think of adding anything to gain power I am on borrowed time. My bike is still stock, untouched inside. Runs great, but I know soon as I mod it. I'll break a piston skirt like Rick Ritter tells me.

thanks ryan, first I started with a fresh bore and a 020 wiseco piston then did a agressive trail port job, plugged the decompressor hole, polished the exhaust port, polished and cut the head, added a HSP pipe,DG silencer, added a tach and clutched it. I can be more specific if you want to PM me.
this set up works great for me, I would'nt recommend the pipe combo if you ride public lands, its awfully loud.
