Default bearings smoked

I took the newly mod'd scrambler out for a 3 hour ride today. It ran OK but still need to work on the air/fuel mixture after rejetting. I was riding hard when I heard a clicking sound from the rear axle. Looked down at the right rear tire and I could see it moving closer to the floorboard. Slammed on the brakes and my chain was way loose. AFter a brief inspection the bearings in the rear axle housing were smoked. Had to tow the beast back to the truck. After taking the axle out and digging out all the pieces of bearing race in the housing I can't get the jam nut off on the sproket side. I might have to heat it up to remove it. Any suggestions on getting that rascle off. This is the side that the bearing was toasted. It got warm enough to smoke when water hit it when I noticed it was toasted.

I had the same problem but on the left side. I used a cut off wheel in an air die grinder (actually it was a MAC cut off tool) and cut a slot in the nut down to the threads and then took a chisle to split the area the cutoff tool couldnt reach and it unscrewed easily. I got a little deep on the threads one side but the new nut still tightened easily. Use lots of never-seeze on assembly.
