It is just like the Scrambler and Sportsman, unbolt them at the frame and the strut. The bolts both go into a single shaft so you need to undo them at the same time, or it just rotates inside sometimes.

Gives a blow up view of the A-arm.
The parts aren't too expensive so cutting the bolt could be an option as long as you have a way to get the bolt out after, or plan to buy a new shaft.
Sorry, I checked a 98 not an 88! May not be right for yours!!!!!

Like others have said, the metal bushing through the A-arm is one shaft. The trick I use when taking the two bolts out is to take one bolt all the way out, thread a nut onto bolt 1, then put the bolt back in the bushing at least six full turns then tighten the nut against the frame. At this point, it should be easy to take bolt 2 out of the A-arm bushing without the bushing turning.

Next, use two wrenches to break the nut loose, then take bolt 1 out. The A-arm should fall off if the balljoint is off.

I just bought a new shaft for mine. This is a link to the 98 I had looked at before, they have 90 and newer but you can call too.As for getting it out, just push it out. May need a long screwdriver or something to push it with, but it does come out.
