Default Sport 400 Vs KFX700 V-Force

Today after several months of some friendly quad bashing between my friend and myself we finally got to dragrace our quads against each other. He has an 04 V-Force 700 with an HMF slip-on muffler, Uni filter and rejetted carb.I own a 99 Sport 400 with a clamp on K&N filter, 38mm carb, Delta 2 reedcage, reedcage spacer, Hot Seat Billet head (pump gas), Hot Seat pipe and silencer, Hot Seat clutch kit, 20/11/10 Turf Tamers, 21/7/10 Cheng Shins, 2 1/2 inch wheel spacers on the front and back and different size front and rear sprockets.Today I was running a 10 tooth front (Sidewinder) and 42 tooth rear (Polaris replacement).

On a gravel road over about a 200 foot distance I beat the V by a couple of quad lengths. The V was having some traction problems on the gravel, but if we had raced on hardpack or grass he would still have had traction problems from either spinning or wheeling. Those V's are no joke.I can sum them up in one word- TORQUE!!!!

My friend let me race his V in a few of the events at the local ATV Rodeo today and I was very impressed with the power of the V.My only complaint about it is that it doesn't handle well at all.In the straights it either wanted to spin or wheelie and in the turns it wanted to two wheel instead of slide. If it was wider and lower and you could actually use the majority of the power that it has that thing would be a blast to race on a flattrack type enviroment.

something don't sound right. with your mods, you should have smoked the v. i have less mods than you on my 4x4 400 and a piped v-force won't touch it. i'm not saying anything is wrong with your ride but maybe there is more to be had from your clutching or gearing. just a thought

10-42 is awful low gearing for racing on those type of surfaces. Try gearing up some that should help you out on the top end a bunch!

Also seems like pretty small tires. They might be good for flat trak, but not for dragging.
