sp800 Header pipe install
#1
I ordered the sp800 header pipe and shields for my '05 sp700 efi, and was wondering if anyone else has installed it on a 700 efi
before, and if I should order the exhaust studs and nuts, or just reuse the bolts that my 700efi uses to mount it to the cylinder head.
Also, has anyone installed the pure polaris (white bro's) silencer with this? Should I spend the $220.00 on it, or get a Big Gun, Pro Circuit, or other silencer? I seen the pics of it installed on Jimmysp's 700, and I don't like how long it is-how it comes so close to
the rear bumper. Also I prefer a turn down tip or big hole in the end-'cause it looks cooler! Does this pipe sound strainge cause it uses the discs? Do the discs and everything around them get all carboned up??? Everyones opinions/help is appreciated! Thanks, Dan.

My 700 is a year old and I intend to reuse the original stud and nuts when I put my header on. I would/will replace the exhaust gasket. I don't have any experience with the pure polaris silencer, but I did have a Big Gun on my 500. It's a good bit louder than stock, if that's of any concern. I think most aftermarket exhaust will be. Hot Seat has a nice looking header and silencer combination, but I have no experience with that either, and it's not cheap. The silencer is available separately. I'm going with the 800 header and an FMF powerline exhaust. Check ebay for the pure polaris silencer, I think I've seen it as cheap as $185. I saved over $100 on the FMF powerline buying off of ebay, based on prices I've seen on the internet. What's nice about this pipe is that it's stainless and there is no packing to replace. It uses internal baffles to control noise. I'll let you know how well it does that when I install it. It mounts sideways in the rear below the frame supports, just behind the sway bar.

for starters if your looking for the complete setup from hotseat, there is a complete setup on ebay right now with the headpipe, midpipe, silencer, jetting, clutch kit, and K&N filter bid is at $50 right now.
I like the looks and style of the pure polaris silencer but when I go riding with Jimmypsp700 I have to be honest I really don't care for the sound of that silencer on the 700, (sorry Jim) It's not that it sounds bad it just sounds quieter to me than the stock can did and I like them to be a bit louder and to sound more like a four stroke. I haven't heard many others but I am wanting to hear a big gun system pretty bad, I just can't get my wallet to give me the $400 for it.

I think you just drove the price up If I didn't have all these parts already, I'd certainly be in the fray. Hot Seat sells that speed kit for $774.

No offence taken Dave.
IMO I think its louder on acceleration but maybe quieter at idle. Sounds deeper to me.
We can check the differences on the hill clime videos.
I don’t think these machines will get much of a performance boost from any silencer only and The Pure Polaris /WB is a much cheaper alternative.
