Trail Tech Computer Speedo
#1
I have been looking at putting a speedo on my scrambler 400 4X4. I have been looking at the Trail Tech ones. How do these mount to read your speed. Do you have to do any drilling on the hubs or are they just bolt on's ? Are they worth the money or is there something else out there that will work better ?

I heard you do have to drill a hole for the magnet to read at the hub.

I wonder what you use to hold the magnet in the hub. Must be some kind of epoxy. Wonder how that holds up thru mudholes and rocky trails. I want something that is durable also. I just like the digital display on these.

I have a Trailtech on my Scambler 500 4x4. It's a pretty easy install. I made an aluminum mounting bracket that uses my handlebar clamps to hold it on. I comes with a handlebar clamp but it won't fit my bars. The magnet epoxys onto your brake rotor. There is also a sensor that screws onto the shock housing pointing towards the magnet. That is the only drilling you have to do. I go through quite a bit of mud and have not had any problems. Just clean-up the brake rotor with some sand paper and an alcohol wipe or acetone before glueing it.

How are they on user friendly. Do you have to carry the instructions with you everywhere you go to get thru all the features. I think I will get one. I just want to monitor my speed, distance, and hours for maintenance. This product has all this.

Hi.
I use a bike computer. Cateye or whatever. Works just fine and cheap. Gives you average speed, maximum speed odo etc.
