What do they put the carb screws in with? An impact?

I'm taking my carb off my '96SP, I think for the first time ever...and I can't get the cotton-pickin' screws out of the top OR the bottom of the carb. I have some overflow and figured I need some carb cleaning, maint., etc. on the float. I also wanted to see what position the needle is in.
How do you take the throttle and choke cables off? I took the four screws out of the side cover and looked at the cable end, but thought I might mess somethin' up and put it back. If ya'll have any suggestions on the removal/maintenance of the carb, I'd appreciate it.

Todd: Support the carb or have someone brace it and using a flat head punch and small hammer strike the head of the screw on the top,not the side, with a firm rap but not real hard. You should be able to remove the screw now. Works for me every time.

Thanks, Bill!
I put some Kroil-oil on them last nite and again this morning, and combining your technique and a small pair of channel-locks, I got the b*stards off. Now I just need to figure out what I'm lookin' at!
