Default SP 700 Speedo & No AWD

I have a 2004 Sportsman 700. I loose the AWD from time to time. The speedo is working but the battery indicator light on the speedo keeps flashing. I have load tested the battery and it is good. Everything else on the speedo is working "except" when on diagnostic mode the volts shows only 1.0. I have checked the volts with an external volt meter and it is showing 12.4 and 14.3 when the bike is running. The dealer say that they took the speedo out and tested it in another bike and it does the same thing.Battery light still flashes. They took a new speedo from a new bike on the floor and put it in mine and guess what the battery light does not flash and everything works fine. He says the speedo head is shot. After reading all the post on this forum this seems to be a problem with the Polaris machines. "Always owned Hondas Before" So I don't want to shell out 350 plus bucks cdn for a new speedo when it most likely won't last more that a year. IS THERE A WAY TO BYPASS THE SPEEDO TO KEEP THE AWD WORKING. Has anyone else had this problem and found a workaround. Surely with all the speedo problems that these machines are plagued with someone must have found a fix other than throwing more money away.

Ive never seen an issue with SP speedos, I fix these things for a living, not any issues, but they can fail, Ur dealer should be going back to polaris and having them replace it under GOOD WILL. that bike is new enough, they should have no problem with a good will claim. It should not cost u at all.

I've always heard since I got a Polaris how they dont hold up, they're cheap, and how they aren't dependable. Well i've had my 04 SP 700 for over a year and EVERYTHING still works the same from the day I got it. I abuse it too. My AWD works great and i've never had any sort of problem with the Speedo. But good luck Moosetang.

The Hall sensors fail often but the speedo is a diff story, although i have heard of some problems with that and the AWD, mostly the older models.
