Do you need to remove the spider to get the clutch weight out? I purchased some BMP Supertipps and a new spring....but do I need to remove the spider to do this? Do you have to have the tool or does anyone know how to do this any other way?

No need to take the spider off, make a reference mark on the outter clutch cover and the clutch so you install back in the same position it comes off to keep the clutch balance correct. Remove the clutch center bolt and the 6 cover bolts, be aware the cover is under spring pressure. Now you can replace the weights and spring, pay attention to how the weight pivot bolts are installed. Depending on your new weights design the spider may or may not need to be reshimmed, with the clutch reassembled the weights should not be tight against the rollers, there should be just a little play in them. If they're tight then the spider needs to come off to remove shim/s to get the proper roller to weight clearance.....

Is there a trick to getting the weights out? I removed the cover and spring. I then took the first bolt out holding the weight in, but can not get the weight out. I tried needle nose and everything else to pull the weight out....any suggestions???

Take the belt off if you haven't so the outer clutch half can be moved in getting the weights away from the spider rollers.

When you put the outer clutch cover back on you can push the clutch assembly inwards to make room for the weights to slide out.

Thanks... I should have removed the belt from the get go...brain fart. Has anyone out there put the BMP Supertips into there ATV? I just got done installing mine and I love em...way more on the bottom end. I am hitting the rev limiter though...I am going to stiffen the rear up and see if I can get this to stand up. I can get the fronts to pull up...but can't hold it for to long (rev). Any suggestions?

Sounds light on the weights if your on the rev limiter and the tires are getting good traction, what weight is in it stock? They'll be letters/numbers on the side of the weights.

I think they had 59 on them...they are at the shop, so I couldn't tell you off hand. So adding more weight will help? I really like the low end. I can add a washer or two to these weights and see if that helps.

Adding weight will load the engine sooner decreasing the rpm, the clutch will upshift faster.
