Recently I was at a local shop that sells four or five brands of quads including Polaris. I was lookng at 500-700cc class machines . The sales boy was telling me all about the sport machines and how good a rider he is trying to impressme with his vast quanitity of knowledge. I figgure I am better than twice his age and have been riding motorcycles and orv's longer than he has been alive....my problem, I know. Any way this kid starts telling me how bad the belt drive system is on Polaris compared to the other machines (Artic cat, Suzuki. Bomb, and some chinese rigs I have never heard of) Ok I did change the belt on my Trail Boss once. Then he tops it off by telling me that their shop changes the frames on Polaris machines a bunch ,at least two a week. I have never heard of a Polaris frame needing replacement except on a severaly damaged Preditor that had tangled with a truck. What have you folks heard or is as I think this kid full of it?

I think I am in the market for a new 500 HO (wanna see what the 06 model is like)and this clown just lost the sale...oh well there are other dealers who I hope at least know how to treat prospective customers. i couldn't believe this guy would badmouth the brand I was looking at especially after telling him that is what I currently ride....he must be related to the owner of the shop or he is gonna starve to death.

If he was talkin about replacing frames, he should be talkin about a AC, or a new Zuki. My dealer told me today that they had replaced some axles, and rearends in some BruteForces, but I have never heard of a Polaris frame being replaced. They look to be one of the best built on the market. If you dont think so, just look at the rear A-arms on a Polaris vs other brands. A Polaris is much heavier built. I guess thats why a SP weights more than a Jap quad, all that extra bracing and strength/ using heavier guages of steel.

Bigbamaboy, the reason I first chose Polaris as my quad of choise is the strength of their componants frame included. I just found it totaly unbelievable that a sales person would talk bad of the product he is supposed to sell. My little trailboss is way stronger than it really needs to be ...except for the motor.... i just won't buy from a dealer who appears to not support the product he sells. The salesboy is the dealers repesentive in this case so it's a no sale. Wonder If I should let the owners know, or if they care. That would be a way to find out how good a company they are.

Just a wild guess, but were the quads he was trying to get you to look at a higher price than the Polaris ones????
Or maybe they had some old stock that they needed to get rid of. Thats why I do my research either on the net or on the trail but eventually both before I even go to the sales shop.

salesBOY is exactly right. Whenever I hear a dealer say a certain brand is THE BEST, I turn and laugh. Every brand has certain strengths and weaknesses, but to all out bash a brand, and give them no credit at all is a sign of ignorance. He should point out the pros of the models you were looking at and answere any questions you had about the cons, but never bash a brand. Yeah, I'd tell the owners, and see if they had the ***** to put a stop to it, if not find another dealer. If you are talking about droppin 5-8 grand on a quad, you shouldnt have to put up w/ any crap. thats the way I see it.

If that's the kind of BS they're telling you before you buy, imagine what they tell you if you need warranty work. You made the best move by choosing to go to another dealer. I don't think it would hurt to let the dealer know they lost a sale and why. At least then he knows he has a problem. If he does anything about it or not, I guess that will tell what type of dealership he runs.
