Default 2004 500HO exhaust and shock upgrade?

Gents,

My brother in law bought a 2004 500HO last november, and has since moved to Arizona with it and has started doing trail/rock climbing there with it. When in Michigan, he ran 13-15psi in the tires since he was doing mostly backwoods hunting and pulling a ice shanty for ice fishing with it and has gotten used to the lower rolling resistance at the higher tire pressure. Now that he's in Arizona and doing more slower paced riding, he wants to upgrade exhaust and jets for his quad to hopefully make it more responsive with the higher roller resistance, basically wanting more low end. He plans on a K&N Filter, but what exhaust and jetting should he get to help his performance? All ideas are welcome except for upgrading quads....

Also, since he's rock climbing, he's thinking of upgrading to better shocks all the way around. Does anyone have any suggestions for those as well? I know elka makes top of the line shocks, but would they even be any good for rock climbing?

Thanks for any input. he hopes to figure this out before his next trip in two weeks... so he's eager to hear from ya guys..
