Default 250 trail boss runs and dies(HELP)

I have a 92 trail boss that will start and run for five to ten min. then if you try to give it throttle to keep it running then it sounds like it is sucking in to much air and will not run until it cools off again. It has 135 on the compression. any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Is it running OK after it gets cool? I thought it might be seizing up, but the compression sounds good. You might have a lean condition causing it to run hot or just not getting enough fuel. Make sure you have gas running good out of the fuel line right at the carb. If not, check your filter. If gas does flow good, check your main jet, it might be partially plugged. Also check your float level and be sure gas is flowing past the needle and seat.

What happens when you you use the choke after it dies? Does the engine rpm increase? If so, it's probably still starving for fuel. Even though the compression sounds good, check for a bad head gasket. See if there is an oily residue where the head and cylinder come together. Is the spark plug wet when it dies? You might have a ring sticking when it gets hot and you loose compression. You might have to do more checking right after it dies. Did you take the main jet out and actually see daylight thru it? Do you have spark when it dies? Maybe something electrical is breaking down.

Run it until it starts to die and immediately unscrew the gas cap. If it keeps running, your vent line is kinked. Happened to my '93.

I knew someone would come and help. There is always someone who has had a similar problem. I'm just guessing at this point without being there when it happens.
"95", your woman quote is excellant. They just had a thread on favorite quotes in the "bomb" forum. That should get a thumbs up from us old married guys.

thanks i belive the vent tube might have been the issue along with putting the air filter back on it. it does not want to die and does not sound like a vacum cleaner any more. I have one more question about the top motor mount it has rubber busshing between it but the motor can move alot. the bushing are touching but not connected to each other. i looked at a few parts finders but i can not tell what parts are what or if this is okay. thank you for your help,

hogkiller,
I have a 1999 polaris scrambler 400 and when you watch the motor sit at an idle it looks like the motor is going to jump out of the bike. I also have a 02 trailblazer 250 and it does the same. If the bushings are still there and you are worried about the motor jumping around, I think this is normal for these bikes.
