Went by the Polaris dealer to get a catalog. They only had one left so I made some photocopies. Dont rule out the Polaris boxes! They look great! They look very professional and look like they were designed with a quad in mind.

If you would like to save a ton of money on a box, why don't you look for an old military mortar box??? I'm surprised some of the "old timers" haven't mentioned this already. I've got an old mortar box bolted on my front rack that measures almost exactly what you are looking for, but is 33" wide instead of 35". It's steel, sturdy, keeps mud and water out, and holds all my recovery gear very nicely. A lock could easily be installed as well by drilling a couple holes in and mounting a lock bracket. They can be found at various sporting goods stores, military surplus stores, etc. I've seen them for as cheap as $10, even at some yard sales they'd be even cheaper.

As for rack bags, I bought the 15" deep rear rack bag from Atvstuff.com. It's a very thick canvas type material with huge thick zippers on it, and a water resistant coating. So far it has kept all my gear clean and dry. Kind of spendy at $70, but still worth every penny so far with roughly 600 miles, packed to the gills.

Just another option.

Mike

I have the large Cabelas bag too. The reason I went with the bag over the hard ones is in case of rollover it won't bust all up. My wheels have seen the top side already too. Not hard, but top side non-the-less. That's what happens when you are running 30 mph on the logging roads and they don't have a sign "Freeway Ends". LOL! If it were hard it may have gotten broke or bent and not been easily worked the rest of the trip. I have 1200 miles on mine so far. I haven't rode in a HARD rain yet, but my stuff's been dry so far.
The biggest drawback is when we go in to a motel at night. Bag is all muddy, but all my gear is in it (and don't want someone to get light fingers over night), and want to take it in. It's not too bad to beat of the first layer (of mud), buuutt......
I do like the idea of a hard box that can be bolted on. Then pack clothes in another bag to put inside, then just pull out the clothes at the end of the day. Something to consider when I wear this one out. 2 - 3 more years I hope. It's still in great shape. No trouble with zipper (BIG). Just use it like a white man, and it will be fine.

Here is my list of places to find that kind of stuff. I am not sure who has what, but here goes anyway. All these are www.
atvgear.com
atvstuff.com
cyclecountry.com
denniskirk.com
essexmfg.com
swisherinc.com
weekend-warrior.com

You might try Ritter Cycle at 618-644-3211. I have no idea if they carry that sort of thing, but Rick was very helpful towards any question I asked him when I called.
Good luck

Have you been up to the new Cabelas store? They have about 3 atvs with different pack types attached to them. I am leaning toward getting a black steel box from Cableas and bolting it to the frame. I have a soft pack currently. It tends to leak, doesn't hold things in place well, and is very hard to clean.

Yes, I have the tammarack utility box. It is so nice for the passanger to have that cushioned back
rest. The shape of it was designed to use the full
polaris seat which is full size. I bought a set of
2 paddle locks that use the same key. I am amaized
how much it holds. I have yet to fill it up. I don't know about this underwater stuff, since my atv is not snorkeled but normal riding and in the rain, water does not get in. I have the tall extender bar and the box fits perfectly inside it.
One thing I did different though. It came with the metal pieces installed on one side and I did bolt on the other 2 on the other side. But I did not use the rubber snubers that came with the box. I bought 2 yellow rubber snubers. The kind that are round and not the regular flat black ones. Buy the right length. They have the hook on both ends so they do not fall off. I found that the kind that come with the box fall off when your on bumpy roads. Its no big deal. Best box, I have seen so far. Mine is the black one that looks nice with my
2000 polaris xpedition which has the black seat and handle bars and front and rear bumpers and brown plastics. Black and brown color coordinated.
Like I say. You will have a heard time filling it up and you may want to be the passanger once in a while. If you have long arms, you can lean against
it your self when riding alone. Someone above brought up a good idea. I think I will do that when I get a chance. To put a piece of carpet on top of the storage rack then the box. I am thinking of putting a piece of carpet on the bottom of the box to. because when I have metal things in the box. Like a ****** block. some tools. A come-a-long. It does rattle when bouncing
over the bumps. that will quiet it down. A project for next spring I think. thanks for the idea. I bought mine at my polaris dealer and they gave me 10 percent discount. Its not cheap, but worth the money. I think the regular price was $150.00 minus
the discount. rangerchet

ranger the reason for the carpet Idea was that thats my trade ,but like you say about inside of box I do it to all mine I use that cheap indoor out door stuff with the ribs on it will be easy to work with easy to cut and install,I just use some double face tape or spray contact cement.I use black as it matches box color and if you make miss cut harder to see it.also I run it up the sides of box make real nice easy clean and quiet.CM

Mud Man;

Naw, I haven't been there yet. My wife wanted to go somewhere/anywhere the other day, and asked if I wanted to head up there to see if there was anything that I wanted. I declined. I don't need to go there to "find" something that I want. The trouble is that the things I WANT tend to be a little salty! I hope to upgrade to a Sportsman (used) from my Warrior, hope to get a new sled (700 Highmark Summit) next year, and a satelite phone yet this year would be nice. Sooooo,,,,I don't need to see what little things I want. They could get in the way of the big things real quick!!!!!!! LOLOLOL!!!

You folks should check out www.atvstuff.com. They have lots of rack bag/fender bag options and are priced very well. I'm getting my pack(s) from them.
