Default Loose head pipe on 700?

Has anyone ever had there head pipe rattle loose from the "Y" manifold and leak? It rattles and makes noise under throttle.
What is the quick fix for this? Heavier springs , gasket sealant? If so what kind, it'll have to be very high temp RTV.

I was thinking of getting the 800 pipe anyways which will eliminate this 2 piece construction but wont be able to get it in time for the weekend trip planned.

Thanks for any help,

Jim

For a quick fix get some of that orange HI-TEMP silicone at the auto parts store that will fix it. I had a buddy that raced round track with a pinto he was always taking the motors out and putting them back in and always used the orange HI-TEMP silicone when he put his header on and never used a gasket not once did he have a leak.

Is it leaking at the head or where the head pipe intersects with the exhaust manifold?

I believe hes talking about where the pipe and manifold goes together at the dounut gasket.

Jim your springs might have lot their tension and cause it to rattle.

There is also a rubber support stop that is supposed to keep the pipe from moving that is mounted on the frame. There is also a spring mounted to it to keep the pipe stationary. You may want to check and see if it is adjusted properly or if its damaged.

Hey Jim is the noise your talking about the noise I mentioned to you at Bull Gap? not to say I told ya so but I told ya it sounded like you had an exhaust leak. I think I want to re-order the 800 pipe for my atv, I shouldn't have cancelled it but I did and now I want it. no big deal though I'll just have to look up the numbers again and re-order sometime. I am a bit tight on extra cash right now, I sort of spent a good chunk this week but I am going to put my spare MTX 2300 car amplifier on ebay and see what I can get out of it then I'll put that money towards the 800 pipe, air snorkle and K&N airfilter.

Yes, where the head pipe meets the with the exhaust manifold, not at the motor.
The rubber mount near the front to the frame seemed ok.

I was thinking of also replacing the springs 70003. I might need the new donut but will try the orange RTV sealant.

Yes, you were right Dave, it has an exhaust leak there and is rattling under acceleration, it's ok at idle.

Thanks Guys.
