Polaris vs. Honda
#31
I was not going to get into this thread, but since most all of you are into Honda bashing, I will. I have had a Polaris, a 1999 335 Sportsman, but after 538 miles and a lot of maintenance. You Polaris folks know the story, go ride come home clean the machine and start the maintenance. Go to Polaris dealer buy parts work on the machine so it will be ready to ride this weekend. Just little small things, Water in pull starter, belt, brakes, and switches. Never anything big, the motor and transmission were bullet proof. But it was the same thing most every week. Maintenance, ride, maintenance, ride, maintenace, SOLD. Only 538 miles and over $400 in maintenance parts. Yes it rode great, best ride I ever had. And yes it would go through mud that other brands had to go around. And pulling in low was amazing. But a very high maintenace machine. I got a Honda Rancher, it doesn't ride as good, pull as strong, or mud as well as the 335 Sportsman. But 1350 miles and $0 in parts. So say what you please, I'm happy with mine, and your happy with yours.

Ahhhh brand bashing... all in fun and games because at the end of the day when you get stuck it doesn't matter what brand the other quad is you'll gladly accept a tow. oh and yes even polaris will get stuck. ;d

I JUST DONT GET THE POINT OF BASHING. It is STUPID, immature and has no point. We are ALL here to have fun no matter what we ride. If you dont like what you ride then get something else. It is that simple. I love my 330 and have 1100 miles and ZERO repairs. I drive in mud, rocks and anything that I can ride over but I do it with common sense. If you know you are going to get stuck then why do it. If you think you can do it then go for it but if you get stuck get pulled out instead of beating it to try to get out of an impossable situation. I am a member of an off road club. I drive a Toyota and it will go most places the big trucks wont. Alot of guys will crack on me but they know by the end of the day I will be washing my truck instead of fixing it. ALL the big trucks break. Period!! In any situation there are pros and cons with all atv's. Honda is a great atv and will take the abuse but it will not go where a Sportsman will go. All atv's have a weak point. When it comes down to what is a weak point I will gladly break a belt or slip a belt instead of breaking an axle or blowing up a trans. Just think of the belt as being a fuse. You will never break an axle or blow up a trans on a Polaris because the belt will slip or break before the axle breaks. Honda has problems with the torque converters blowing up, Grizzlys break axles, BF 750 have problems with reverse blowing up and the Polaris will slip a belt. Not ONE atv is better then another. If I wanted an atv to get me through the deepest mud or over the biggest logs, plushest ride then buy a Polaris, if you wanted to pull logs or tree stumps then get a BF750, if you want an atv that has gps, likes to trail ride with no big obsticals and you like a stiffer ride then buy a Honda, if you want an atv that will do a little of everything but not the best at one thing then get a KQ. They ALL have a purpose but it depends on what purpose you will need it most. If you come to a situation where it will not perform like another atv will in a certain situation, dont complain because not one atv is built to do EVERYTHING!!!

Axles on a polaris will break... just ask anybody with 29.5's.
As for pulling polaris is the best four wheeler for the job because of its weight which equals more traction.
Honda has problems with torque converters blowing up? Wha? Wouldn't that have to do with the transmission and i don't think i've heard of it happening on the rincon.
You also have the king quad mixed up with the BF750 on the reverse issue. Not to say that the BF750 doesn't have its own problems like tie rods bolts falling off and differential issues.
Not all brand bashing is bad... when done the proper way it lightens the mood and is all in good fun and everybody will be on the end of it eventually because well crap happens.
I watched the vids of the 800EFI and had to laugh at the wheelies i guess cause i have the wheelie utility(BF750). (You can laugh when my a-arm bolts fall out or something)

BTW i don't think 29.5" tires should be used on any ATV. just too big imo.

I got this funny feeling that if every machine bought was left stock there would hardly be any problems but they aren't and its when you start to modify that you start finding out which parts are really made to hold up. So when you say an axle won't break i can think of every four wheeler out stock (cept maybe the grizz!! hah j/k) that wouldn't break an axle.

you people with your no repairs and ride it like you want thru mud, water, rocks, sand, and got between 1000 to 3500 miles are full of B.S. you have to work on some more than others, but no repairs. come on!!!!!!!!! do you have memory loss. some people want everybody to believe they have the best and they never work on it. but the truth is if you have a 4x4 of any brand with boots and belts and you like to play in the mud it is going to have a problem before you reach 1000. miles. if not your riding on asphault and lying to yourself. thats what makes people mad. tell the truth about your machine. we know better.
