Man i get allot of chain slap at low RPM's. How do I know if it needs adjusting? It just got it back from a major tune up (4 hours labor)

When you have the rear shock compressed there should be juat a little slack in the chain.

Hard to believe they did not adjust your chain with a tune up.

I have the 03TLD, but my handbook tells EXACTLY how to check and how to adjust the chain. THIS IS IMPORTANT, as a chain can do major damage. Adjustment is much easier than Yamaha, about like the Honda. In 03 when the Pred first came out I saw TWO Preds at Glamis with case damage from loose chain, first trip out.

The thing about the Predator chain that is different from any other quad I have seen is that the book calls for about half the tension slack than all others. At least on the 03, you must run the chain tighter than most other quads. When the chain works loose, it makes major noise. Check your handbook, and keep the chain tight.

Just my experience. Good Luck!

Keep In mind that your chain will stretch over time... (not knowing how new/old your current chain is) If its still fairly new , you will have to watch it a little closer.

Man, I'm so mad!!! the dealer DID NOT adjust the chain, you can see where the chain slaped against the top of the swingarn. What was the point of getting a tune up. They charged me over $400cdn ($320 us funds) and now im pissed!!

Wow, what all did they do for 4 hours? I would take it back to them.....and tell them to ajust your chain. That seems kinda high to me, I hope they used some KY Jelly!

I never took mine back for maintenance, although I did take it back for one safety recall it had. He$$, it was off warranty after three months anyway.
I do maintenace myself regularly, however. I have never adjusted the valves, but I plan to do that soon.
I think the book tells you what should be done. Most things are pretty basic.
And tightening ALL fasteners is a really good idea!
