I think they should make a LE Polaris SS (Sportsman Sport) for racing the utility class.
The 500/700/800 EFI stripped down to the nessecities and much lighter.

Hell while their at it might as well make a LE Scrambler SS too!

The new Walmart Syndrome. Nothing's stopping Polaris from selling more quads and gaining #1 status (in sales) like nothing's stopping Walmart from selling more crap TVs, whether its crap or not, cheaper is better nowadays. More bang for the buck. Of course patriotism has a bunch to do with it, but that's silly thinking too.

more for less!!! sure!!! more weight anyway. I'll give em that. The 'patriot' motorcyclist among us in the US used to call Japanese bikes disposable, but there are more old Japanese quads out there still running on original parts than Cyclones!!! Look at resale and tell me which is more disposable.

I already know 250cc know-it-all will be piping in with some convoluted crap, so I'll say you be quiet now, you Polaris-only lovin, make-believe, never owned a 4x4 ATV, hypothetical, conceptual, guesstimating, cyber rider. 600 lbs is a lead weight quad?? stupid statement, but have a nice holiday, I'm going riding my super-dependable, highest resale - lead weight all weekend while you're typing some more BS. Got to run....

Propnut, I hate to tell you but you don't have a 4x4, but a 4x3.... and a really bad case of Polaris envy.

well Oleman, guess that makes two of us that don't have "real" 4x4s, at least when it comes to downhills. Fine with me, lockers are overated. Bombardier's viscous diff would be my choice, but that noisy belt and bulbous belt housing in my way just didn't cut it. the 3+wd I got is just fine.

my low tolerance for cheap stuff or BS posts should not be mistaken for envy, 750 lb quads (like 250cc 2wds) are great....on groomed trails

My Polaris envy died when I had to put a crank in my sled, and had to tip it on its side and vaccuum out the gear oil to change it without leaking oil inside the belly pan. Or when my friend had to get towed back after 85 miles on his 05 Frontier because they didn't grease the drive bearings. Or......

cynic is a word that people who don't get people that have a clear picture of the entire situation. I mean, bump up production, force dealers to sell at loss, make it up on spare parts and repair labor.

I noticed Polaris ATV warranty costs were up 18% this year on their quarterly report. Wonder why..............really why......that cuts into profits, and that's the name of the game.....

Maybe because sales were up 24%? What's the matter you don't have any better places to troll? No one will play with you in the Honda Forum? Get a life and go brand bashing somewhere else.

I don't usually bash, this is more aimed at the BS I read a couple posts ago, from the Polaris Virus of the board

If he can bounce all over and talk BS, so can I, right??? It's soooo easy with a target that 'big'

big, ha ha.....get it?

By the way, why do you have all that stuff added to your quad? Not happy with it as was. You really needed that heelclicker kit? That's a nice trail-closer muffler too.

Hey propnut,

Man, I swore to myself that I wouldn't respond to a Polaris bashers but this post is simply too close to home. Now don't get me wrong, the Honda Rubicon is a darn good machine with excellent resale value and a tranny that is second to none (IMO) BUT......... I've been there dude !!! I bought a brand new Rubi in 2003 and 2 new Polaris 500 Ho's since then. The Rubi can't even come close in comparisson to the SP 500 HO. The Polaris outperforms the Rubi in all categories wether it be the ride, speed, strength and most certainly the 4x4 system. I've had my Rubi pulled out of a mud hole soooooooooooo many times, then compared it with my buddy's SP. Same hole, same driver, same speed, same results !!!

Have you ever been to an ATV mud bog and weight pull competition ?........ I've been to several and I swear to God, the Rubi always finishes dead last in the wieght pulls !!

The Rubi does have it's strong points though. Having owned several Hondas I firmly believe that it's dependibility is paramount. The Rubi tranny is seamless and as smooth as butter with NO BELTS, however there's a price to pay if it ever dies. A Honda mechanic once told me that the only way to fix a Rubi tranny is to R&R (remove and replace) at a cost of $2400 (up here in Canada). With that said, I truly believe that the Rubicon is a good realiable machine with it's own strengths, but it certainly does NOT compare to the 2005 Polaris 500 HO no matter how hard you try. You will not convince me otherwise because again bud, I'VE BEEN THERE !!

So you were responding to someone else, but now we're going to get personal and you want to bash my quad. Yep.... you're a troll!! I guess schools out for the summer. Take your best shot, while you hide behind your computer states away. A simpleton like you could never understand the quest for more power. So I won't waste my figertips trying to explain it to you. Just be happy with the mediocre performance Hondu gives you and go on your way.

in the racing business if a car is too heavy... we lighten it up. remove any un-needed parts and fabricate steel parts out of alluminum (that doesnt cost the integrity and safety of the machine). so why dont you just lighten up your quad yourself?
