I also have to tell you a story about a friend of mine who had his quad stolen last year (a 2004 sportsman 800). He had driven his quad to the edge of the woods on his property (in Clarkson, NY) and was hanging out with his friends late one night, and decided to walk home due to alcohol consumption. Well, the next day he went out to the spot where he left it, and it was gone. Now being a knucklehead, he didn't insure the quad, and for some reason he couldn't claim it on his homeowners insurance. Long story short, months later his brother is a park ranger in Mount Morris, NY and came across a guy trying to sell him a sportsman 800 that "couldn't be registered". Turns out, it was his quad!!!! So, don't give up, cause you never know.

to everyone that cant understand the story here....

i bought a polaris scrambler 400 2x4 brand new back in 2002, and in the fall of 2003 i bought a 2004 suzuki ltz400, me and my girlfriend at the time would go out riding all day with a few friends. well, me and her broke up but still were friends and still rode together every once in a while. then (stupid as it was) i let her borrow the suzuki. well, couple weeks later she said it was "stolen" from her garage. her story says he homeowners wouldnt cover it cuz it wasnt in her policy or something like that. and the cops told her not to put it in the police report cuz it wasnt hers and she didnt have the title. well, so happens bout 2 weeks after it was "stolen" she went on a trip to vegas for 2 weeks. but she always complained about being broke. go figure. so about a week ago i seen one of her friends had 2 yellow Z400s for sale in front of his house. and i got to thinking and put 2 and 2 together. so as it stands now i have to find some way of proving one of those quads are mine without tipping him off and take a chance on him getting rid of them. or mine at least. the cops in my county wont do anything because it was stolen out of another county and that county wont do anything because i live in this county and they keep jerking me around. so, thats where the story ends so far.

well then it is plain and simple, get a friend of yours that the guy with the quads doesn't know, have him go look at them and copy down the Vin # of each
compare those to your title and see if they match
there you have it!!!!

Sounds like you need a heart to heart talk with your ex g/f. You are taking your pent up frustration out on the people you are trying to get help from. That is, the members of this forum and the Law Enforcement in your area. Sounds like you have a very short fuse And, people get disgusted talking to you. You use way to much profanity and I don't care if you type **** or the word itself. We all know what your implying and you've gone over board.

You are walking a fine line, so, take the advice of fellow members, you will get more help in the long run. Anymore temper tantrum's and you just might find yourself in time out.

i apologize for my short fuse. i have some personal issues about people stealing stuff from me. i have a job and work my butt off for everything i have and will ever have. and i dont steal ANYTHING and never have. if somebody wants something that bad then they need to get a job and save the money for it. and it really burns me when people talk down to me, and talk crap about something they dont have the facts about. if they have questions fine, ask them. dont make me look like im an idiot and dont know what im talking about like certain people. but anyways. i apologize to everybody about my short fuse and getting so hyper.

and 2c3? it is in my name, but they wont help me because of a county conflict. it was stolen from a county diferent from where i live and some political bull****. i dunno exactly but it pisses me off.
Edge, thank you for being so adult and mature about all this because I would think a lot LESS of you if you were calling me names and using profanity. Now, back to the real world. Your right, I didnt know all the facts, thats why almost every sentence in my post was a question, I was trying to get the facts. I didnt know that you had a Z, after all you have never said anything about it. Think about it, how would it look to you? You see a guy very into asking questions about VIN#'s and where and how to check them out, what would you think? It sucks that your quad got stolen, but i dont feel sorry for you. Your bad attitude has totally gotten rid of any remorse that could have been felt for you in your situation. With that kind of money invested in those quads, you should have had insurance. Instead of you wanting to commit suicide because of people like me, just go sign up on another forum, that would make me and a lot of other people much happier. Its good that you work for everything you have, but your not special for that, we all do. As for me, Im done talking to you

Edge,

Why don't you and some big "friends" inquire about the quad that guy has for sale. It isn't illegal to stop by and look at an item for sale if it is on the front lawn with a "for sale" sign. Then once you are in his yard, look at the quad. Does it have the same dents and scratches as yours did (because if you do any kind of riding, it will have plenty distinguishing characteristics), if it does check out the VIN. If you have the title and he doesn't, put the quad on your trailer and leave. What is he going to do, call the cops? County dispute or not HE IS IN POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY!!!!! Thats my suggestion. Hope it helps.
