Default Local Dealer SUCKS (RANT) - You too?

Mrhell - I live in Flushing, Michigan near Flint and when I was in the market searching for best prices I called Chapmans in Lapeer and they were one of the worst dealers to talk to over the phone. I bought my wife and I's 700EFI's from Weiss Equiptment and sales in Frankenmuth, Michigan and I am 150% satisfied with their sales, service, parts, warranty and anything else. they have repaired/replaced stuff for me even though my atv's are out of the 6month warranty and in return I give them great word of mouth and try to send all the referals to them I can and in fact one of my supervisors at work was looking to buy two 90cc predators for his kids and told me what kind of prices he had been getting so I referred him to Weiss and gave him the phone number and they gave him a price $400 lower than all the local dealers out the door. Tom (my supervisor) was so impressed with their sales and his experience dealing with Weiss that he is going to be trading in his scramblers to them and buying new sportsmans he said.

The dealer I got my scramy from seems really good. Lissys II in coal city IL. It was about 5 weeks later I walked it to get a new filter and oil, and he remembered me and asked how I liked my scrambler. He seemed very interested in my opinions and were I have been riding. He was the first to recomend a K&N to me as a replacement when I went to buy a new stock filter. I have been back several times and every time he asks about how its doing and if I have any problems. Seems like a great guy.

Now the local RC hobby shop is a different story. If you don't have a part number the guy acts like your a moron and has even said to get the part number and he will check to see if he has one! I have a couple of older cars also and had a problem with the rear diff, so I brought it in to see if he could look at it and he just said simply the car is not supported and no parts are avail. I said can you check to see if there is a differential that my fit from another car, and he said he doesn't have time for that stuff. The place had 2 other people looking around at new cars, with 2 other employees just watching the other customers! I deal only with tower hobbies online now.

I guess i am just one of the lucky ones. My dealership has been nothing but excelent to me for the last two years. I have an 03 pred that regularly goes back for it's preventative maintance. Mind you i did buy a warranty plan that goes for three years that includes all oil changes scheduled as well as twice a year tuning..valve lash, compression check and such. The guy that sold me the quad knows my name when i walk in the door and is always ready to help. The only thing that buggs me is the usual markup on mail order items that dealers give, but that can be avoided by online vendors.

I highly recomend Eddie Hills (NHRA Drag racer) fun cycles.

Stay Away from PROCYCLE in missouri. They advertise a price that no one can beat. They use some low life sales techinques. When it's time to close is when you get hit with $200 set-up fees, $65 document fees, insturment tuning fees, and being a dum a$$ fee!

Just go to Abernathy's in Union City, Tennessee. Worth the drive and they are the biggest bike dealer in the world. I called them up and said Have my quad ready, I will be there in the morning. We drove all night got in and out in of the closing room in 20 minutes and drove home with 2 brand new quads on the trailer. They love customers there...I have a great mechanic that is not with a dealership that does my work that I can not do. He is reasonable and always friendly. A good bike/quad shop is hard to find.

that reminds me of my local Honda dealer and why i don't do business there. he has a Freight charge($100), Set-Up charge($200), and a $55 Doc Fee. and still he sells a lot of Honda ATVs.

you guys all work hard for your $$ (unless you are a Trust Baby). don't EVER pay the above fees. it's pure BS and lines the wallet of the Dealer.

set-up charge? show me to the shop- i'll put the thing together myself!
doc fee? show me to the office- i'll type-up my own paperwork!
freight fee? PROVE IT!
