2005 sp500HO prefilter ?
#1
The dealer that I bought my sp from told me that if the prefilter gets wet
I would have to replace it, But the owners manual says to wash it with
soap and water, let it dry then put back on. What gives? Is the dealer
trying to sell me something I don't need?

If the stock filter gets wet you have to replace it,not the prefilter,
And dont replace it with a polaris filter,
theres a few good aftermarket filters like K&N,UNI,No TOIL
As NBsportsman said....most dealers are clueless.......

My prefilter is totally washable, its a polaris prefilter(not the big sponge type). The polaris dealer told me that he thinks its better than the K&N prefilter because its made of the same material and is almost half the price. Its made of the same type of material that a tent is made of i think

Thanks guys, Your absolutly right saying most dealers are
clueless. My dealer sells every brand exsept artic cat and
I get the feeling that polaris is put on the back burner as they
push the Metric machines. Next time I'm going to a dealer that
sells only polaris, even if it means travling 50 or more miles!!
