timing setting on 400 race mod?

On the mark on the stator, left of it or right of it? My line is on the stator is at full right on the stator. The pointer is therefore all the way to the left. This retarded right? For the full HPD race mod should it be in the middle or a little retarded or advanced?

You mean you just line up the marks? Not advanced at all or retarded?

Well I set it at just a HAIR retarded, kinda like me! It seems to have much more throttle response. so far. I will have to see on a full day fully warmed up. I can't figure out why it would be set all of the way reatarded. I only ran around the house, but what diiference should it make from fully retarded to almost dead center? Thanks.

HPD goes for the 2 degrees retard timing for lower temp at top end and
and better reliability out of the whole race kit,a 2 degree advance (stock timing 23.5 degrees) will deliver more HP but at some more heater temp in the end,but that only minors gains we"re talking about here.

i'll let you figure out that after some tunes,i prefer 2 degree retard as HPD recommend than switch to leaner
jet and hotter plug and still maintain lower temp in the end, great response and and near perfect reliability.
