How do I fix this?

You won't need much as far as tools go since it's the complete shaft. You'll need an allen wrench to get to hub cover off and a socket for the axle nut. also some type of punch or drift to pound the inboard pin out. that should really be it. I'm not sure if the ball joint needs to come off or not but if it does you'd need a wrench for that. So supposing you had a hammer and a socket ratchet. your looking at 5 bucks max for the allen wrench and 10 or so for the large socket. fluid is like 8 bucks or something.

I just picked it back up from the dealer. So I am going to order the two shaft kits and manual and give it a try. I have the basic tools like socket set, hammer, rubber hammer and allen wrenchs but I dont have torque wrenches.

Autozone is great. I had to borrow tools from there before. Here is where I took the scrambler and got my pred http://www.kwcycle.com/aboutus.asp?s...03I08JAMQ137R0. Do i need to jack the quad up on stands for this project?

Yeah, your going to need jack stands or whatever you can put under it to be tall enough. Just remember what ScramaDDD said, AUTOZONE, if your not going to use the tools enough to purchase them, such as the torque wrench, you can get a loaner from them.

I just put new tires on mine last weekend and all i did was put a jack stand in the front angled so that it was under the front bumper and one edge was touching the ground. then I put my foot in front of the stand and rolled the bike forward it came up on the stand real nice.

Hoopie, make sure whatever you place under the ATV is strong and sturdy. You don't want the ATV to slide off while you're pulling or pounding on it.
Here are some other items you may want have on hand before diving in:
Cotter pins to replace the ones you remove from the ball joint stud and outer tie rod
WD40 for cleaning grit/grease from parts you are working on
Non-residue brake cleaner for cleaning up the brake caliper assemblies (don't use wd40 for this)
Blue lock-tite for reinstalling various nuts/bolts
I always like to clean things up while I have things dissassembled. Make sure you gently clean and re-lube the seals/sleeves on the hub and strut before you put things back together.

Hey Hoopie, I did the same thing I while ago. I was doing some maintenance and the shaft popped out of the joint. I did not notice until I drove it out of the garage and heard the clunking. The only damage done was the splines on the shaft got messed up pretty good. I took it apart and cleaned it up to see what was going on.
Turned out all I had to do was clean up the spines and put it back together. I used some small files and a dremel tool and carved away at the rolled over metal until the parts slid together again. That was 2500 miles ago and it still works great. It took about 5 hours to do but it I saved a mint. Just a thought to keep in mind. You may want to clean them up before you order new shafts. I agree with the buying tools instead. If it happens again and your tools are paid for... more $$$ for you
