Predator cutting out
#1
I have an 03 Predator - I've owned it since Jan. -2003..... I have a Hard rock Motorsports air kit and White Bros. E series pipe / filter with 12 disks jetted with 172 main jet and the pilot jet they sent me with the kit ( can't remember) ... I have never had a problem with the way it runs up until now- It's always been a problem free quad until this week- What is happening is I'm getting a hesitation and a backfire when working the throttle aggressively - it has even cut out completely and stalls the motor at times - I'll start it back up and I'll rip on it and it seems fine until I go into a corner and start working the throttle aggressively again- kinda of like the hammering the throttle and turning the key off in the middle of doing it - strange problem - So far I've taken apart all the electrical connections on the handlebars, removed the electric cut off switch in the throttle lever, took the carb off and cleaned it, siffened all the gas out of it and replenish with fresh fuel and the problem is still present ... A couple of times , I would push the starter button and it wouldn't even engage the starter-- Once I turn the key off and back on, it fires right up again - I don't know if I'm looking for a short or is rejetting in order - Maybe a CDI going bad - valves need adjusted ?? - Any input would be great - Thanks in advance

On the thumb throttle you will find a two wire connection. Follow it down the handle bars and disconnect it and see what happens. It is a safety switch that Polaris installed if the quad every gets the throttle stuck at wide open throttle and you let go of the throttle it hits a micro switch and kills the engine.
