SpeedGuy question about lake race porting
#11
Scrama I was merely letting you know you could get you'r cylinder bored and it wouldnt be a 440. But I definately wasnt calling you an idiot. If you post a question others will try to give you reasonable information you may want to know. A 60- 80 thousandths bore on a stock cyl doesnt leave you with many more bores after wear. We're just trying to help you Bro. You posted a question???????

ding dong,i wouldn't go on big bore if the only need here is more power,
they do run better on a little boring and good porting then, the HPD
race mods is so well built, you can throw it around and trail ride as you
want on 110 octane gas no problems, whenever you do,the tmx 38 will
fade the performances a little whenever kit you go...

A .120 big bore polaris is only 411cc's. I would never again go to a big bore and waste a bunch of bores. You will gain a little bit of torque but that's it. A well prepped standard bore will outrun a big bore due to filling the top end more efficiently. As you bore out a cylinder the volume increases cubed, but when you redo the porting you are working with squared. it is hard to make the motor efficient and perform like it should. I am not saying they wont run good, but to me it is not worth the money spent, not to mention less piston life, a lot more money for a replacement piston, and having to do special head work or a custom dome. A standard trail ported cylinder will run hard and last a very long time if taken care of.
By the way Scrama, ditch the HSP pipe and get a good one, and ditch the TMX carb and get something that's easy to tune and work on. I'm sorry and I mean no offense to speedguy, but their performance products do not match those of Ritter Cycle or HPD. I speak from experience and know that there are many others who share my feelings. Bubba

I'm sorry to hear you think that way bubba, but I do not believe there is anything easier to tune than a flat slide tmx carb, on the pipe side of things our pipe works just as good if not better than the hpd pipe in fact I think if you go back far enough you wil find that the pipes are very simialr and were designed by the same person so why would it not work any more. Have you ever tried our pipe your self?
