Default PP slip-on for pred's.....quite core??

I just picked up a '05 LE pred yesterday with pp slip on. I read online somewhere that you can remove the "quite core" and make it louder. well today i messed around with it trying to find this core, but had no idea what to look for. I removed this piecepeicethinking this is the core. Am i correct? if not what is it and what does the core look like? it does sound alot louder when you get on the gas. i love the sound and the bike!

i could be wrong (very good posiblility) but i think that is the spark arrestor. At least that is what it says on the core of mine if you look into the back of the muffler. Someone also told me removing that will make it louder...makes sense. my question is what exactly does a spark arrestor do? stop flames, sparks?? from coming out of the muffler i take it? Is it ok for the bike to remove these?

that is my concern because i heard before that removing the spark arr isnt the best thing. the direction states to remove the quiet core......this is what it says.

"the quiet core should be installed between the muffler and the first of the 8 discs installed." the dealer installed the system. when i removed the 6 screws from the back, the closest thing to the actual muffler was the peice in the picture(what i removed), then 8 discs, then another disc but this was fully closed and said on it approved spark arrestor
#something.
