Default What size bigfoot kit?

I have a 2004.5 sportsman 400 and was looking at some better mud tires. I like the bigfoot kits with new rims and tires. I am thinking I should go with stock 25 size because the 400 isnt the most powerful quad and 2), I think the 26's would rub the back fenders at full compression. With the stock 25's, with a ton of weight on the back and the suspension all the way down, the tires tuck up under the fenders. I don't know if there is room for another 1/2 inch of rubber in there.

I would obviously prefer the 26's, but would they run ok?

go with alum wheels(less roling mass) and a big wheel clutch kit. Put 1" lift inthe font and i think you"ll be OK

Thanks. I do want a clutch kit down the road. But for now I think I am leaning towards the 25's, I don't want to lose anymore performance than I have to. Just turning those bigger lugs in the mud will be enough of a workout for the 400, I think.

Tyler I have the 27" mudlites on type 6 wheels but if I had to do it all over again I would go with the 26's due to less rubbing on the mud flares and less wear. you only gain a half inch of ground clearance by going with the 27's anyways over the 26's.

In my opinion I would not put larger diameter tires on a 400 Sportsman. My girlfirends is a bit weak stock & I could imagine losing anymore power. I think you would be disappointed in the power loss.

I have a 500 & went from 25" to 28" tires. It takes a lot more power to turn them so I know from experience.
To only increase the size by 1" would be a waste of money for the net result. 1" really doesn't make it look any meaner. BUt we all have to remember it is your money.

By the way I have a 2002 --500 sportsman & 26" ITP 589 tires will fit & not rub.So I know they won't on a 2004 1/2.

Yeah, I am thinking 25 is the way to go. Silverbullet, are the LesterATV prices on their eBay store higher than if you call them?
