2005 Polaris 700 EFI with ONE mile quit running!!!
A friend of mine and I made a 10 hour drive each way to purchase two 2005 Polaris 700 EFI Sportsman ATV's. He took his out for a test ride today. He rode about one mile at a relatively slow speed. When he went to turn around the ATV stopped running and would not start again. The battery cranked but the engine would not start.
This machine now has a total of 1 mile and about .3 hours on it. What could possibly be the problem with it not starting? I have the identical bike and am now hesitant on taking it out for the first time. Did I make a $7000 , 10 hour drive mistake?
In the manual it mentioned a fuel valve. I have heard from a few people, however, that this ATV does not have a fuel valve. I could not locate one either. Is there indeed a fuel valve that could be causing the problem that I cannot see?
Thanks.

check to see if there is gasoline in the fuel tank, these machines are gas hogs.
Just some sour humor which at this time ya don't need .
that would tend to tourque my trike.
sure it is something simple, but don't let it sour ya on this machine, they are awsome quads.
keep us informed , I for one will be waiting with baited breath to see what ya find.

I had a similar problem with my 500HO. I only had about two miles on it when it quit. I had one of my friends check it out that worked at the polaris dealership. He finally found where the spark plug wire had been installed between the frame and the gas tank. This had cut it into after just a few minutes. It was fixed under waranty.

You did not make a mistake. These things can happen to any machine. A few things you can check. Unscrew the gas cap and crank it over. If the cap is not venting it will not start. Check to see if fuel is getting to the carb. Check the choke. Take the airfilter out and crank it. Maybe even spray a little intake cleaner to see if it fires up. Or maybe the computer took a crap. I know the dealer is 10hrs away and can be a pain but stick with it and call them.
