secondary roller clutch question

secondary roller clutch question
i've been thinking about buying one of these and was wondering if it's something that's going to make a big difference. when i ride it for the first time am i going to say wow what a difference, or well that's nice but it wasn't worth 200 bucks. does anybody make these besides HSP?

i also have one,
it did make big difference, tho i think it would depend on your riding style. if you ride alotta trails it would be very noticeable. backshifting is smooth and instant. so when you come out of a corner, the power is there. if you do any racing, i think it would be a big improvement. plus, its virtually mainenance free. you wont need to worry about replacing clutch buttons anymore.
i got to play around with a few different springs and helixes when i got mine, and went with a nonstandard setup. but its what i liked the best.
something else that is very important, the most difference you would feel would come from a combination of the roller secondary, and agressive spring and wieght combo in the primary.
if you call HPD and talk with them about it, they will set you up with the right components to fit your machine and riding styles.

I have the HSP roller secondary and like it I just wish they would had sent a stiffer spring the one they put in it was a 85-115 and I need the 105-165. They sent Oleman the 105-165 free because they messed up but told me I would have to buy one [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img].

secondary roller clutch question
i had a clutch kit that included springs and weights for the primary and springs for the secondary. it's definatly more agressive than stock. i'm trying to locate the receipt so i know what i have. i'm guessing from doing a little reading here that the best way to set up your clutching is with a tach?

Reids, what are you riding? A tach is a pretty essential tool for clutch tuning. It make your comparison of the effects of different clutch components much easier. I have the rapid roller and I'm still tuning it for what I want. While it's an improvement over the stock secondary, I can't say it was worth the purchase price just yet.

FYI guys neither hsp or hpd make the team roler clutches we are either both dist. or dealers for them 99% of the time the set-ups team reccomends are the set-ups the customers recive because they work the best. Sportsman70003 depending on what team catalog you look at it shows a couple of different set-ups with helix and spring combinations we have found that the set-up in the 2005 team catalog has worked the best so far which should be a 80-62-.40 helix with a 105-165 spring if you look in there 2004 book it shows they run a 85-115 spring for the 2002-2004 sportsman 700. Sportsman70003 I'm going to pm you.
