Problem with SP800 Brakes
#1
I've got a new (170 Miles) SP800. The brake pedal bleeds down really quick when I use it, and now the handlebar Reservoir is leaking brakefluid out the cap. I think the fluid is somehow bypassing in the caliper and ending up pumped into the handlebar Reservoir from the rear mastercylinder. I would think the caliper either has a two stage piston to keep the circuits separate, or a check valve somewhere...Either way something isn't working right.
This is my first Polaris and I am unfamilier with the brake operation, any help would be great.
Thanks,
Kirk

You have seperate lines to the back caliper so it sounds like you may have blown a seal in the caliper. When you take the caliper off you will see the allen head screw that holds the two halves together. Once the two pieces are apart pull the piston out and you will see two o-rings in there. The foot brake uses the inner smaller diameter chamber so check to make sure those seals look good and there aren't any scrapes or anything in the body or on the piston itself. clean or replace the seals then give everything a nice cleaning with some brake cleaner and you should be good to go. The seal kit is like 30 bucks I'm not sure if that is for all four seals or just 2 seals for one caliper half. the part number for the seal kit is 2201872. Of course if it's still under warranty just take it in and let them do it.

Thanks for the reply. It is still under warranty, however I'm about 140 miles from the dealer I bought it from and I am not real fond of my local 8 mile away dealer (stealer). I'll pull it apart and take a look and see if if the seal is still good.
Thanks,
Kirk
