need some help with 500 scrambler.
i just got a 2000 scrambler, and it seems to have a few problems:
1.the brakes don't work very well. they wont lock up on grass. i've noticed that the rotors are very dirty-greasy. could that be it?
2. there is a squeaking/creaking sound coming from the swingarm area. maybe the grease fittings? it's pretty much the same sound as when my friend ran his 400ex into a tree, except, of course, this is in the rear.
3. the reserve petcock doesn't work. i ran out of gas, switched it to reserve, and it wouldn't start. i put gas in it, and it wouldn't start untill i switched it back to on.
4. there is no way i can pull a wheelie on this thing. i suspect this normal for stock. what would be good primary and secondary springs for someone who wants to be able to lift the front wheels when he feels like it, but still wants good tractibility and ease of use. i also want to shift out better, but i am much more concerned with acelleration than with top speed. i also want it to downshift a little better, like if i need extra power for jumps. speaking of which, i guess i should get a chain tensioner, huh? how hard are they to install?
thanks in advance.

Hello and Welcome to the fourms.
1. If it has grease on your rotors it 's not going to stop very well. You need to take some break cleaner and clean the rotors.
2. Have you checked your swingarm bushings?
3. Could be just a bad petcock or have something in it stopping it up.
4. You might try the green polaris spring in the primary it should help some. I also recommend the Team roller secondary I just got one and it's awesome. The shifting is so much better it's unbelievable.

They might just need a little grease from the grease gun. The bushings are about $13 per side and shouldn't be to hard to change. Look here at #15 & #29 thats your bushings.
