Re-installing trany on 400 polaris question

Default Re-installing trany on 400 polaris question

when i put the transmission back in my 97 explorer 400 should it bolt right back in place or do i need to check the shaft alignment with the engine shaft and possebly shim?

If it's like my 425 there is no adjustment in the bolt holes, so if it was shimmed right for the secondary clutch to begin with it should be alright again. Do you have a book? I think the only adjustment would be shimming the secondary in or out for alignment with primary.

I just replaced my tranny last week with a diffrent one. I checked for the proper alignment with the shims it had on the last tranny and lined up perfect. I would check to just be careful. Here is a link to HPS web site on how to check for allignment using a straight edge.

thanks for the help guys. i have the expensive polaris manual. i brushed through it for the removal but i haven't looked at installation yet.
