PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE A SPORTSMAN !!!!!!
Listen guys this is so important, please do it. I just have witnessed my second sportsman with a blown engine because of a simple 5min........ $0.25 upgrade so please pay attention. Find your crankcase breather hose. When standing on the left side of the bike you will see this hose it looks like it has a inline filter on it. This hose runs from the crank case to the airbox. where the hose comes out of the crankcase you will see it is connected to the nipple with a cheap squeeze clamp remove that clamp and install a gear clamp. There are three lines there it is the top one, the other two oil lines already have gear clamps on them. What happens is a branch or stick can pop this line off and it will allow water and or debris to enter your engine. This happened to my 2004 400 SP and it just happened to another one I know of it is such a cheap preventave failure. I also witnessed the very same thing happen to a Honda 350 ES so it is just not Polaris. It was the first Mod I performed on my new 500 SP. Do it guys, you will kick yourselves down the road

My friend had the same thing happen to him on his 2004 sp 500 so i put a gear clamp on mine already but it is impotant to do that if you ride in mud or water because it happened to my friend and his engine is done so that is a good you brought that up and i think every one should do that to the crank case breather.

Yes I found out from experience and the thing that really bothers me is when my buddies 350ES Honda did it I told myself to check mine. Never thought of it again until I had filled the engine full of water after crossing several rivers she ran so long she started to knock. Oh well live and learn
