The raptor is big bore long stroke, not good for reving, as for the predator it short stroke big bore, you can rev the **** out of the pred without any problems and get great torque, that extra 160cc is crap, its more like a inline six then a fast reving race engine.
My info is garbage? Everything i stated is proven physics, for example 302 can out rev a 351 due to rod lenght and main/rod journal size, the Raptor motor is built for torque nothing else.

Naturally, a larger displacement motor will make more torque and have a reduced safe rev limit. But, for you to say that the Raptor is 'built for torque and nothing else', THATS garbage.
The Raptors motor revs to 9K RPM.

I've rode both and must say if I went out to buy a race quad today it would be the Raptor. Its one awsome machine. Nothing wrong with the Predator or any thing like that. I think the Raptor is alot meaner.

Well i'm not one to talk BS over internet, but me a few friends went up to Lincoln Hills in MI Sat, i road with 3 raptors,KFX 700 and YFZ 450, lets just say i didn't have the quickest bike out there but i was leading the pack.
Mr350X,
I know raptor engines can make power, i work with high performace V8s 6 Days a week, i know what can and what wont make power, not saying i know everything cause i'm far from that, but you rev a raptor more then 9k with a stock bottom end it wont last long with the stroke it has.
Think of this, The raptor is SOHC w/rockers 2 carbs on a single cylinder engine with 5 valves long stroke. The pred engine is designed for high performance high revving power with its rockerless DOHC valve train and single carb short stroke and big bore makes it an over square engine good for revs and high rpm HP. Not saying the raptor is a bad quad, there good bikes; i just like the preds engine more.

I agree. (see all my posts about DOHC vs SOHC in the yamaha forum thread "such a thing as TOHC")
A DOHC motor with a short stroke is a better (read: more fun IMO) powerplant than a big torquey single cam, larger displacement motor.
However, the Raptor motor is quite versitile if you ask me. Large bore, long stroke, still decently high revving and very reliable in stock form.
For the record... I would probably prefer the Predator if I had to chose, even though I am a little more biased toward Yamaha.
(had a GREAT Yamaha R1, and currently have a Banshee that has been absolutely bulletproof)
