Here is a newbie question. Quad is a week old and left rear tire loses pressure over night. When I inflate it, it is good for the time I ride (about 2 hours). Can anyone tell me how to repair it.

The air loss is not uncommon. The low pressure tires do not always seal well on the bead. Go to a local auto store or Quality farm and get a bottle of Slime or similar tire sealant. Put it in and it should cure the problem. You can mess around trying to reseal the bead around rim, but for the $6 the tire sealant cost, its much easier. Hope this helps.

 

Air it up, then spray it with a hose. You may be able to see where the leak is. Don't forget to check the valve and valve stem. Other than that, I agree with MagnumMudMan. Good luck.

 

Does the slime off-balance the tires or make them wobble at high speeds?

 

If it is not leaking at the valstem or at the core have the tire replaced under warrenty that is what it is for.

 

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try finding the leak but it loses pressure so slow that I don't think I will find it. I'll give my dealer a chance to do the right thing also. Let you know how it turns out.

I had the same trouble with my Trail Blazer. I went to a tire shop here in town and had them but the pink slime in my tires. My tire pressure has not changed in 11 months. I don’t know if the pink slime is different than the green but it is working for me. If you want I can call the tire shop and ask what kind, it is. Everyone I ride with uses it and we have no trouble.

 

TNT. Mix some dish soap in a bucket of water and wipe that all over the tire. No matter how slow the leak is you should be able to see soap bubbles appear. Then you can make your decision from there as to what to do with the tire. Good luck.

 

Slime works great, my friend had a slow leak and he put the green stuff in, problem solved. If I were doing it, I would do both tires: if the leak is in a front tire, do both fronts, if it's in the rear, do both rears. I would go ahead and do all four, what the hell.

 

My friend put some new holeshots on his honda and one kept going slack, so we filled the tire with air until we couldn't get it to move when wwe pushed in on the tread. After letting it sit like that for a day or so we didn't have no problems, so we figured the bead on the tirewasn't set on the rim tight enough
