Default Is this ATV cursed!? Is the seller laughing all the way to the bank!?

I have a 91 Trailboss with a 2x4 240 stroke...and NOBODY WANTS TO TOUCH IT! I bought all the parts for a TOP END rebuild and nobody will touch it for less than $400. I asked why and all I got was "Cause you have to pull the whole engine to do it!" For some reason nobody wants to fool with this...and if they will, they sure are charging a lot to do it. Did I buy a cursed engine!? And one other thing...for some reason, the end of the starter that turns the flywheel is loose and occasionally slips out and gets lodged between the flywheel and housing when trying to pull start it (causing the flywheel to seize). Does this happen...is there a spring or something that goes in there that got lost? HELP ME, IM IGNORANT!!

Try pulling the engine out and then see how much to rebuild it. I'd pull the engine on anything that I was doing a top end on. It's just too much of a pain rebuilding in the bike.

Where do you live?.........having a shop fix any quad is expencive. That is where it comes in handy to do it yourself. I do engine work, if you live anywhere near St. Louis.
