Default '02 700 awd not working

I bought a beat off 700 and replaced many many parts ,including ALL new front diff, new speed sensor. After installing the front, the awd won't work or even light up.All connections are clean, winch is unhooked and everything else on the bike is working fine.
I did a search on this and other sites and nothing jumps out as being wrong.I read about a ground for the speed sensor, where is this?It only plugs in to the headlight console and attaches to the right front caliper mount.
I cut apart one "pillow pack" and it had some condesation & corrosion, should I replace these short stops too?
Can someone explain why the speed sensor has to be hooked up for the awd to work.(although it is )
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Albino, welcome to the Connection. I'm sure we can help. You replaced the front diff, was it cracked? Did your replacement diff have new guts (roller cage, armature plate)

If your AWD light doesn't light-up then it's not getting power and can be as simple as the AWD switch needs to be cleaned or replaced or it could be the gear selector switch on the tranny, this switch seems to be the cause of alot AWD power problems, it's easy to remove maybe you can borrow one as a test.

The AWD needs the speed sensor to tell if the rear tires are turning faster than the fronts in order to engage the AWD, anyways I'm sure someone can explain and help more.

Be patient, once the AWD is sorted out you'll have a blast.

You say you replaced many parts. Did you happen to replace the speedo itself? I know if you try to put a newer speedo in the 02 & 03's the AWD will not work or light up unless you push the override button.

FIXED! Thanx guys, but the pawl in the gear selector was siezed onto the shift-shaft and I thought it was one piece(duh!) while I was working on it the gear sensor wasn't attached so I guess it has to be for power to go to the front, anyway I put it back together and everthing works including the speedo.
Thanx...............This machine seems to get hot really quik,is that normal?

Best thing to do for your new purchase is to clean the rad constantly, this will ensure long life for the atv.
