Default 2005 800 ??

ive been reading all the things you guys have said on the 800 thanks for all the great info. problems with mine so far? the exhaust side get realy hot at slow speeds the left rear tire looses a lb of air a day but don't see any cuts or holes? left rear pipe is resting on frame the right one is about 1/4 in off frame on even ground it seems to have a wobble even with rite air pressure in tires? rear box gets water in it. the dealer wants to see it at 200 miles to change all the fluides shuold i just run it hard till then and see what falls apart??any thing else i should look for? upgrades once i take it back that would save me headachs down the road. cv guard covers etc. thanks for helping me out.

I have the CV guard covers... they havent made a difference! Although I havent run across a single person who has the same rate of CV rips per month that I do.

For the tire, take it off and cover it with soapy water - that'll show you your leak. Probably around the rim. When I get those annoying invisible leaks I just use a can of fix-a-flat, but on a new atv just tell the dealer to fix it.

I have a 400, so that's all I can honestly say.

unless you guys are travleing over Anti-CV razor blades, i honestly dont see how you guys have so manny ripped boots. i mean, i might have just gotten lucky or my 800 and 500's havnt seen what their title can live up to, but ive NEVER had a torn boot. the 800's got 400 miles on it and the 500 has nearly 3000.

Same here, I once drove over a stump (I'm kinda dumb that way) and got hung up forward, reverse, forward, reverse etc. finally I got some buddys to help me lift the machine
up off this thing when we noticed the boot had been torn or so it looked at first, come to find out it had only poped the thing off. Never have I had a torn boot
and I am the one that just mowes things down to flush the rabbits out. SP800 & SP500 never had this problem. I have had to remove alot of sticks from the A arms rubing the boot for who knows how long. I always say (no passangers) when I remove this stuff.

I don't get it either. I just follow my neighbors, who are on their sportsmans, and always get home with a torn boot. That's 8 this year now .

Check your header bolts at the eng. Ask em about the box. 06 been fixed? if so ask em to update it. You may have a good dealer. Check your boots. Many have had them covered by the dealer. I called all in my area and they all said they would not be covered. Same co. diff treatment. I don't know. hope your not having the trouble I have. Get out and ride it . Some have three years, you have six months(warr) You should get some miles down to work out the flaws. My eng was not aligned right. This made it hard to shift at times.

loosen the mounts on the pipe thats rubbing the frame see if you can move it away from the frame and retighten....as far as the boots, never had any trouble but my dealer who is also a friend told me when I clean up my quad(which I do after every ride) spray baby oil on the boots tyo keep them plyable.....dry hard boots rip easier thats a fact..as my other friends have been doing this for sometime and no ripped boots..as the rear box goes get you a stool sit down with a tube of clear RTV silicone and put a little on your finger at a time and press into seam where the two sides go together..done both of my 88"s and no leaks..even using the power washer....as far as the tire Id make the dealer try to reseal it if that doesent work he should replace the wheel and tire....

If your tire doesn't have a hole or cut in it and is just leaking at the bead, try using liquid dish soap around the bead area. I use this on my car racing slicks (tubeless) and they never lose air. As far as the rear storage box, I took mine completely out and used black RTV silicon all the way around it - inside and out. Make sure you also do around the edges by the door.
Polaris has good ideas, but it seems that they don't do enough R&D.
