Default New tire leaking around bead

As in my other thread, I just got some mudlite xl's. Had them mounted at VIP on the stock rims.

The next morning, one of the fronts was flat. Put some water around the rim (after pumping it back up) and there were about 15-20 fountains around the rim, bad loud leaks. So I aired it all the way down and pressed down the edges, sprayed it out with the hose, pumped it way up, then lowered it to 6psi. It isnt leaking after doing this a few times, but pushing the sidewall in causes a quick squirt of air to come out.

Should I try completly breaking the bead and reseating?? I've never done that. I'd go back to VIP or somewhere but the nearest tire place is about an hour away.

thanks
ty

you may want to try resetting the bead or just get some Fix A Flat, fill ur tire all the way up with it and ride it constant for about 5 to 10 minutes. It shouldnt leak after that.

I have a can of fix a flat, but I dont want to fill my brand new tire with that if I don't have to. I want a good seal to begin with.

How hard is it to reseat the bead once I pop it off?

it shouldnt be to hard just take ur time to do it right because once you mess up, well if you mess up just wipe away the bad part and restart at the point where you went bad otherwise your F****d

as long as you have a good air compressor reseating a bead isn't hard at all you just fill it with a good shot of 100psi air untill the tire is about 30psi or whatever the maximum seating pressure is for your tire. In the past I have gotten a bead to seat with a cheap automotive compressor in a pinch but I wouldn't reccomend it. They might not have cleaned up the bead area on the rim and that could cause your problem. Just make sure when seat the bead you keep your fingers well out of the way.

Well I only have one of those 12v compressors with me, my 120v one is at home. If I go that far I may as well go back to VIP. I got it to stop leaking for now, I'll see how it does.

Try this fix, if air is leaking at the bead with no other problems (cuts, holes, etc.). Put liquid dish soap on a rag and coat the bead area of the tire all the way around (be generous with the soap). Re-seat the tire and that should end the leaks. I use this on my tubeless car slicks and never lose air in them.

Well that's pretty much what I did to stop the leaks, but I didn't unseat the bead first. I just let all of the air out and bent the sidewall back.

Guess I guessed correctly, though.
