Polaris Predator (for on road)
#1
A friend of mine would like to buy himself a Polaris Predator to have a ATV more or less for the "on road/street use" (with street tires and he would lower the atv's suspension down). But since in our part of the country there is very few people with this Atv on the street, I would like to ask you, if somebody have any experience with this Atv for street use: how does it run on the street road, stability,.....? Also he would like to know, if there is a lot of maintenance with this atv (as far as I know, this is a race atv, so more maintenance????)
Thanks for your opinion!

I'm not too sure a lot of people will know the stability of highperformance quads on road.
Where do you live? I want to move there if I can get away with riding a 4 wheel'd quad over a three.

Depending on where you live you can get some nice street tires. I live in Germany and I have street tires on my 800 sportsman. The only problem i have is that the rear drive train has no slip so when I go around a corner both tires are pulling at the same speed. other than that I have no problems and the street tires made a BIG difference.

A little south of where i live you can ride quads on the road with no problems. A buddie of mine lives out there, we ride the roads for hours the pred runs great and is very stable on the street with the stock tires i have on mine, it could only get better with tires and lowering.
As for maintenance, its just the normal things, grease up the fittings, oil change and chain adjustment.

Does this loosen up the rear end a lot on corners? Or is it not so noticable? That solid rear end is going to burn through tires...

Hi there...
in my experience I do always drive my atv/quad on the street.for 4 years I bought Polaris Scrambler 4x4 year `99 and got an ori tires on it and feel great on the street evn with 110km/h still stable.and changin to SMC snake 250 ( taiwan quad) with only 80 km/h top speed and again with ori tires and feel not comfort( this quad is youth quad).and changin to DS650 baja 03 with street tires feel great and stable and now I own 05 Predator TLD,lowered, street tires, changin the front and rear sprokets to keep the max speed up( cause the street tires smaller than ori tires) and feel great.talk about performance street atv/quad doesnt have to worried about the maintenance cause it is much easy to mantain street used quad than race quad.but ......please keep those rubber on the street!

Hey Trailrider 500 your the guy with the polaris predator right? That picture of you beating that 440 ex reminded me of when a guy with a 450r was talking trash with a little fmf pipe. 5th gear and 85 mph later,I turned back to see that he was 12 quad lenghs behind me. He later found out that I am only 14 and had my plastics off of my 04 predator. See most people look at me when I have my helmet on as if I am an adult because I am 6'2 and 205 lbs. Please write back to me because I want to talk with somebody who actually likes American made quads and not Japanese CRAP!!! I also want you to reply back because I noticed that you have the gear ratios for the predator and I was wondering how to change it. Thanks for reading this loooonnggg reply, Just WRITE BACK please.
