I have read Bionic's posts on his troubles and do not blame him a bit for being upset. If you spend that kind of money (especially considering the # of past Polaris products he's purchased) and have problem after problem with no dealer support, it would give me a very sour impression of Polaris. I realize they can only do what the dealer "tells" them to do, but it is hard to not be disgruntled toward Polaris when the dealer is representing them. I agree that dealers can really suck sometimes. When you find a good one however, there's nothing better! Thank you for all your comments and suggestions so far!!! Btw, I've read some posts about the PXT tires being soft and puncturing relatively easily. Is this true and will I likely have problems with these while trekking through my woods running over branches and what not? It would be nice to know this up front so maybe I could either get a different set of tires from the dealer or buy my own and take the PXT's off right away. At least then maybe I could get a decent resale value out of them to pay for the new ones. Thanks!

 

The PXT are great tires and the best all around tire ever put on a utility quad! Period.

The GY Rawhides may be better for mudding and a little more durable but for all around use you can't beat these radials with larger than normal lugs for good mud and slop performance.

Who the f../. are u to question the rider's back ground, he asked about the atv, not if he was able to handle it. To say he will mess up his first go round....you're an a$$!!

If u think he should purchase a bomb, then start posting in that section, take your anger with u.

 

I had drove through some tumbleweeds and got a side wall puncture. When I removed the offending object it was nothing more than a soft twig. The PXT tires when flat
are indeed flat and need to be repaired on the spot. If this is the kind of thing your worried about, you might want to replace them with a good 6 ply rating.

 

The PXTs are 6 ply, no problems with mine or my buddies yet.

That's promising then. I just don't want to have tire issues everytime I venture out to do some work, which could be nightly. That would get real old real quick. Are the new 14" tires and rims any more bulletproof than the PXT's?

Well to tell you the about PXT tires on my 05 500HO.
I did get a sidewall cut from trail riding on quarry type rocks on a wooded trail. Just a razer 1 inch slit. Didn't notice it until next morining. So, It took me to forced 3 plugs in to seal the leak. Tire holds up for a 3 or 4 days before starting to loose air.

I really don't know what ply rating the tire has. But I can tell you it does ride nice on rough trails and fine on gravel roads and muddy trails.

I personally will probably go to a mudlite XTR tire for replacement when these wear out. Most of my riding is a mix of wood trails and hard pack roads and some mud holes on the trails.

I personally wish I had waited for the 700 EFI. Only because I ride with friends who all have the 700 EFI. I like the sound of the twins. Not for any other reason. The 500 is plenty of power for me.
