Default More Runs Sp 500 vs. sp700

My 2005 sp500 topped out on gps at 55 mph, which is exactly what the speedo said. 6800 rpm, which I think is the max from what people say.

Jimmy's 2002 sp 700 topped out at 62 mph. I'll let him give you the report on his scrambler.

He put on his new belt and broke it in for at least 30 miles last weekend. We drag raced today to see if it made a difference.

At 40 mph I'm usually 1 1/4 quads behind him on pavement. It was the same today.

We also decided to race to 25 mph in low on pavement. His quad lifted the tires each time. When we got an even start it was basically a tie.

We hooked up my trailer to each quad at put his scambler on the trailer. Total weight was about 900#.

We did a speed run for about 300 feet between two marked areas. I got up to 36 mph, he got up to 38 mph. Not too bad for the 500.

He wants to pull my truck next week (5600# empty). I told him he's nuts.

On a side note, we had no problem slowing down the 900#. Sportsman has nice brakes.

mine tops out at 58 and they hit 7000rpm. the old 500s hit 60 or so. why is it nuts to tow a truck? they'll have no problem

I did a top speed run on pavement with my trail ported/moded 400 2x4 Scrammy and my speed was 72.8 on GPS.

I dont know if it had any more on top if it was a longer run.

On a gravel road I registered about 68.6 mph.

Both about a 1/4 mile run.

Jim
