Default 97 400L suspension questions.

I am looking for a little softer front end. When I got my quad from my friend. He had bent the front a-arm, and the strut shaft was also bent. This limited the suspension very much. I ended up buying a 99 complete strut, spindle, sping etc off ebay. Well being new to this I didn't realize the 99 was a long travel front end. So after I put it on the quad became almost dangerous to drive. It would pull like mad because one tire was on the ground. So I then purchaced a new 99 spring, and shock from Polaris to correct the other side. Well it moves good now. No real modifications to do this swap, just need to unhook the brake lines. My issue now is that the front end feels stiff. Not alot of movement. I put in all new bushings, and everything is greased. Just feels stiff to me. Is their anything I can do to make it better IE aftermarket springs. Will it lower the front at all. It could stand to be lowered a little.

Thanks a bunch

Progressive makes a preload adjustable and EPI makes HD springs.
You may need to go with Works AT Steelers cartridges or the Fox struts.

the progressives are considerably stiffer then the stockers there 95-115 if I remeber this correctly and the stock scrambler 400 is 75. I think trail blazers are 45pounds.

best thing to do would be to go to parts land and look at other models they list the spring rate of each spring. You may loose some long travel but I think the new springs rates ability to absorb the shock of something would be better and smoother.

I think it was a sportsman that has something like 30-160 for spring rate, I can;t remever exactly but this is what I was thinking of using.

don't quote my numbers and I just havn;t had funds or time to test any of this out yet.
